Matt's page

My name is Matthieu Neale. I was born in Brussels in 1979 and have been living in Belgium till I was 24. My mother tongue is French but I don't use it so much as I live in Barcelona and speak spanish all the time. I moved to Spain in late 2004 for work, and still live here at the present time. I like this city pretty much, Barcelona is modern, multi-cultural, energetic and is surrounded by the mountains and the sea which makes it a nice place to live and work.
I define myself as curious and optimist, I like to learn new things about different subjects.

I went to high school in Brussels at "Collège st-Michel" in the science-math branch.
After graduating in 1997 and still attracted by sciences I started studying Agricultural Engineering at the University of Louvain-La-Neuve in Belgium.

After two years of scientific training I stepped into International Business at EPHEC in Brussels. There I acquired good knowledge in marketing, commercial law, supply chain management and foreign languages. It also gave me the opportunity to study abroad during five months at the University of Oviedo, in Asturias.

Some time later, interested in new technologies and aware of the growing opportunities created by the web, I started a Master in Web Development an Design in Barcelona.

Currently working at InfoJobs, the first spanish job board. I'm in charge of web and mobile products development.

Portfolio

I've always been attracted by outdoor sports with infinite playground, like snowboarding or free fall.
In 2002 I trained as a skydiver at the Skydiving school of Maubeuge. I made 45 jumps between 2002 and 2004 and haven't jumped till then.
Below is the only video I have. We jumped from a Pilatus at 12.000 feet from the ground.
I wasn't very stable in the air but that was good fun anyway!

As I live not far from the beach in Barcelona I like to go kitesurfing when it's windy outside.
Kitesurfing is a mix between paragliding and surfing. You can fly above the waves or surf them.
It is not complicated to learn and can be practiced in many places around the world. You just need wind and a wide beach for launching and landing the kite.
I have a license of Kiteboarding instructor and some times give private classes near Barcelona.

I started playing the guitar when I was 14 and never stopped till then.
As most of the musician have experienced, I've passed trough different “stages” which took me from heavy hard rock to blues or classical guitar. I had the opptunity to do some concerts in belgium with friends, but never really stepped into a profesional musician career.
Nowadays I just play for myself, when I have some time to...

The only records I have are when I was playing with my old friend Karim Kerdoudi back in 2002.
We were attracted by flamenco style and tried to compose in that direction.
This was recorded in Brussels, with a mixing table and one mic:
